"Be like a flower, beautiful and colorful. Be like a diamond, rare and unique. Be like art, aesthetically mysterious. Know your worth and love yourself no matter what others think of you."
By Leslie Silva (me)
It is very important to love yourself and know what you are worth. It's important to be confident. Don't compare yourself to others because you'll never be like them and they'll never be like you, that is the point. Everyone is different and that is what makes you unique and rare. Think of it like this; every flower is different, its smell, its color, its height, basically everything, but they are all still beautiful and so are you. Sunflowers and Roses are very different. A sunflower is bright like the sun, tall like a skyscraper, and shaped like a circle with triangles around it. A rose's petals are curved, it's not as tall and it has a smell like sweet cherry blossoms. Both are very different but very beautiful. Art is the same. Art has different patterns that tell you different things, it has all types of colors and textures, it comes in all shapes and sizes, and it is all very beautiful.

"Choosing the right is always the right thing to do."
-Alex Linares
If you always choose the right, you'll never be wrong. Choosing the right will bring you many great things in life. Choosing the wrong will only being you many repercussions. When you choose the right you'll feel right, you'll feel proud of yourself for not choosing the wrong. But if you choose the wrong you'll feel overwhelmed. Nobody will ever tell you any negative things for choosing the right. If you choose the wrong, people will be telling stuff all the time. If you choose the right, you are more likely to succeed and to have others respect you and love you for who you are as a person. If you were to say negative things behind your friends back, he/she would probably stop trusting you and stop talking to you. He/she would stop trusting you because he/she handed you their trust and friendship but you just decided to throw it away. If you would of chose the right and never said those things, your friend would still be talking to you.

"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player."
-John Wooden
Your actions, your personality, your reputation and everything about you is way more important than your label. You could be the best basketball player in the world but if you treat people unfairly because your "famous" people will slowly start to disrespect you. John Wooden didn't care about winning. He just cared about being a good, fair person and look where it got hum. Your actions say it all. If your actions show something negative about you, your basketball skills don't matter at all. If you're considered a very good basketball player, that will be your label. But once you do something you're not supposed to people will criticize you. The label you were given "very good basketball player" will be removed and all people will remember it as the negative action you committed. So that is why your character is more important than your "skills".

"True wealth is of the heart, not of the purse."
-Pathros
Money doesn't matter, it only seems like it does. Yes we need money in order to buy our necessities but when you think about it, money is just paper that controls our lives. I think that this is pretty sad. You can have all the money in the world and be completely alone and you still wouldn't be wealthy from the heart. Money does not buy happiness, people only make it seem that way. People who are wealthy from the heart care about others more than themselves, they do anything possible to make people feel better, they want to do good to others and their surrounds but most of all they have more love in them than hatred. These are only a few of the qualities that real wealthy people have. if you have some of these qualities you should feel proud of yourself because not everyone has them. True wealth is not about having alot of money, houses, cars or etc, its about your personality, the way you are, the little things that you have and the way you treat others.

"You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible."
-Ezra T. Benson
If you do bad you will feel regret afterwards. You can try your very best to fake that you are okay with the action you committed but deep down you'll feel guilt and that is not okay. If you always choose the right, you ll never feel this way. If you were to cheat on the person you supposedly loved, you would feel horrible. You would do anything to hide this from him/her and make sure she/he  never finds out. But why cheat in the first place ? Why chose the wrong over right if it doesn't bring you anything good ? When you chose the wrong, all the that comes after it is repercussions.

"When I do good, i feel good. when i do bad, i feel bad."
-Abraham Lincoln

if you choose to do good, you'll  feel proud of what you accomplished. When you do bad, you'll feel ashamed of yourself. If you were to pass a test with a perfect score you would have a huge smile on your face the moment you saw it. You would feel so proud of yourself. But if you were to fail that test you would feel so disappointed and you would instantly start thinking about what you would do in order to pass the next one. I feel bad when i am so rude to my mother, she does so much for me and then there i am giving her an attitude. My action is bad, so i feel bad. When i apologize i feel good. When i choose the wrong, i try ti fix it with something that is good, and when i do fix it i feel good. I feel good because i did good.

"The key to freedom is obedience. The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have."
 -Boyd K. Packer
In order to have freedom we have to follow the rules/laws. If you choose the right always then you will always have freedom but if you choose the wrong you'll end up limiting your freedom because of your actions. If you were to murder a civilian you would be arrested for many years, you chose to kill that person and now there is repercussions to your action. There are many consequences to your actions, you might not realize it at first, but once you think about it you'll see all the repercussions.

The happening of 9/11/01

On September 11, 2001 a Islamic terrorist group hijacked 4 planes. The first one hit the north tower of the World Trade Center in New York City. This plane left a hole in the 80th floor of the 110 story skyscraper. The second plane hit the Pentagon in Washington Dc. 15 minutes later the third plane hit the 60th floor of the south tower of the World Trading Center in New York City,  one of the twin towers collapsed a few minutes later. The fourth plane crashed in a rural field in Western Pennsylvania, this happened because 3 passengers decided to do something about the hijackers. More than 3,000 innocent people died on 9/11 15 years ago and more than 6,000 people were injured, this day is very important because many people lost family members and friends. When i first heard about these attacks i didn't really understand why people would kill innocents civilians.

Reflection on Thomas S. Monsons Story

When Thomas S. Monson was a little boy he and his friend wanted to make a campfire. They pulled out many weeds in an open grass field, after a few minutes they realized that doing this would get them no where. In that moment Thomas had the idea of lighting up the weeds with a few matches, so they hurried to his house to go get some without anyone noticing. They lit the weeds and after a few seconds they noticed that they had no way of controlling the fire. They where afraid of what might happen so they called for help. Many neighbors came rushing out of their houses and directly to the lake to get water to turn off the fire before it caused major damages. Luckily they were able to burn out the fire, no major damages were done and nobody got hurt. In that moment Thomas realized that "obedience is the great test of life." Its very important to consider being obedient because disobedience only gets you into trouble.
"Obedience is the great test of life."

To be obedient means to live by the rules. Obedience is the easiest test you can pass, many have trouble being obedient. Many don't play by the rules but if you do you'll be proud of what you've accomplished. Sometimes You can get into trouble if you're not obedient. If your parents let you go out they usually give a certain time to come back. If you dont come home by the time they gave you you could get grounded or they might even give you a very long lecture. If you're not obedient at school they usually give you detention. If I ever decide to be disobedient in marching band i know i can get 5 or more push ups and i have to do them in front of all the band members, that is embarrassing so i am always obedient. Being obedient is one of your choices, you decide if you want to do it or not.

'Education is the latchkey to success in life."
-Gordon B. Hinckley

Image result for gordon b hinckley

This quote is saying that education is a very beneficial thing. Without it there is little to no success.
Education opens many doors for you and it brightens your future. It is hard to get a job that pays a decent wage without education, no job equals no great future. Many people give up in life and end up consuming many types of drugs or alcohol and then they end up in the streets. Many of those people were like you and me but they dropped out of school or didn't take this education seriously. Its very important to take your education seriously because your future depends on it. If you take it seriously you ll probably graduate high school and go to a very good college (Stanford, Ucla, Usc, etc)  you'll have a great future . In 10-20 years you'll be glad of what you accomplished.  If you don't have the key, you can't unlock the door. If you don't give it your all, you'll never receive that key.
